The HNDA Program is the first professional accounting course introduced in
Sri Lanka. It was started in 1943 as the National Diploma in Accountancy
with the aim of detecting and preventing frauds, errors and malpractices in
Ceylon Tea Estates and Ceylon Railway.
Then, it was converted to a Higher
National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) in 1946. It has been gaining
popularity over the time and in 1963, an evening course was also introduced
in order to meet the market demand. The HNDA was considered as an
alternative to B.Com degree offered by the National Universities of Sri
Lanka by the Public Administration Circular No.46/90 of 1990.
Objective of HNDT in Agriculture course is to produce middle level managers, who are capable of practicing appropriate technology and management tasks in crop and animal production, agro product processing and agribusiness and contributing to the socioeconomic and sustainable development of the agriculture sector locally and internationally, with professional attitudes and confidence to serve the local and global community.
The Higher National Diploma in Information Technology (HND-IT) Program at the Sri Lanka Institute of Advance Technical Education (SLIATE) was developed and commenced in the year 2000 with the objective of producing the middle level IT professional required for the new millennium.
THigher National Diploma Program in food
technology was started in 2012 as a two and half year Diploma Program which is conducted by Sri Lanka institute
of advanced technological education under Ministry of Higher Education.
This Diploma Program is currently conducted
only in ATI Gampaha .The two years of this Program entitle students to obtain the Diploma in Food Technology and last
six months students are led to implement their vocational training in food industry.
Higher National Diploma in English (Part-Time) is your gateway to a world of opportunity and

It is conducted with a duration of 2 ½ years (2 years course work + 06 months
project work). Lectures are conducted on weekends. The assessment method includes two
semester-end examinations per year and continuous assessment methods.
